Regarding the stolen art for the CFN campaign

My name is Jessi, and up until the end of May, I was the main person running the Castiel Fan Network, as well as blogging on tumblr at jeremycarversweaterfetish.tumblr.com. I’m no longer running the group because I’ve left the Supernatural fandom, but because I was the person in charge during the postcard campaign, I wanted to write this. When Misha stated in interviews that he had not been approached for S10, a group of us decided to take a proactive approach, and started a postcard campaign. When our posts asking people to print out the Heart of Supernatural designs, a campaign run and created/designed by members of our group, didn’t get many notes, one of my co-admins had the idea to create an account with Touchnote where people could easily send their postcards without leaving the house, and could also donate money to purchase credits so fans who didn’t have money could send postcards as well. She set up the account and uploaded original art created by another member of our group, those postcards are the photo edit ones using images from the show itself you see tweeted by TPTB and in the original post. We also posted a set of images and graphs created by members of our group for fans who wanted more options.

However, we did say that if fans didn’t like our designs, they could upload their own, something Touchnote allows. Which is how the problem that was brought to our attention today happened.

The Touchnote account has not been used in months now. The campaign is not ongoing, and I hope that offers some reassurance to those who have been hurt.

It appears fans took it upon themselves to use fanart without permission. This was not our intent with this project, this is something I personally find abhorrent.

Hundreds of postcards were going out every day, and the account was monitored by a handful of people in order to be certain postcards containing hate were not being sent. The overwhelming majority of the cards were our original designs. Some fans uploaded the picture of Misha being pied that was tweeted today as well. And apparently, someone sent out stolen art, something none of us caught with the volume of cards going out. I hope that also offers some reassurance, the stolen art was not used en masse. It was done by an individual, and was not part of the campaign by design. That of course doesn’t change anything, even one individual stealing art hurts the artist. It hurts the Castiel Fan Network as well, because it erodes the groups credibility, and the groups ability to rally goodwill in order to support both Castiel and Misha.

We did not upload the art, we do not support the use of stolen art, and I personally, along with the person running CFN now who I passed it on to when I left the fandom, feel gutted by this happening.

I am so very, very sorry on a personal level to Euclase for this happening, and to any other artists this may have happened to without our awareness. Though again, stealing art was never the groups intent nor my own, that doesn’t erase the hurt that was caused.

I am in the process of reaching out to Euclase. The person running the Castiel Fan Network currently is taking her own steps to rectify the situation as well.

Again, I am so sorry this happened. Just to be 100% clear for anyone reading, Euclase was not part of the Misha4SPN10 campaign, nor was she ever approached by CFN or anybody else to be part of the campaign.

Though I did not upload her art myself, and did not sanction its use, because I ran the campaign, this is on me. I hope that anybody reading this doesn’t hold it against the Castiel Fan Network and their efforts in the future. The current admin for CFN was not involved in that campaign, and the group, which exists only to support Misha and Castiel, should not be judged for my own failures.

An Open Apology to Euclase

It has recently come to our attention that during this network’s Misha4SPN10 postcard campaign, some artwork by Euclase was used without permission. This is something that we here at the Castiel Fan Network take very seriously, and we would like to start by offering a full and unreserved apology to Euclase, and to any other fan artist whose work may have been used without their permission.

This campaign was run towards the end of season 9, when Misha’s status was uncertain. It was highly popular, with over 3000 postcards sent. While postcard images were provided for this, individuals were also encouraged to submit their own if they did not want to use the provided images. Using the Touchnote account that was set up for this purpose, fans were able to send out postcards or donate credits for this. It seems that despite best efforts to check the cards that were sent out, some unapproved artwork was taken from some fan artists and sent.

As this was a campaign run by us, the ultimate responsibility lies with us, and we would like to once again apologise wholeheartedly for what has occurred. We will be reaching out to Euclase to discuss this further. If there are any questions, please get in contact with us via ask, and we will answer them to the best of our ability.

Again, the responsibility lies here, and for what is happened, we are truly sorry.

This is just to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make our trending event for Misha’s Whose Line is it Anyway episode such a huge success! We had a huge number of tweets come through, and managed to trend in the US even though up against some pretty big events (Football World Cup, I’m looking at you).

The official Whose Line tag, #wliia, was also given a pretty phenomenal boost which can only help with the ratings.

And none of this could have been done without you, so once again, THANK YOU ALL SO VERY VERY MUCH.

Misha Collins will be on an episode of Whose Line Is It Anyway on the CW Network on Monday, June 16th at 8pm EST/7pm CST (find your time zone here). We also have a winner for the poll we have been running for a Misha-specific tag to support him. That winner is….

#WhoseMishaIsItAnyway! This is to be used in conjunction with the offical tag, #WLIIA.

Let’s support Misha (as he always supports his fans) and make sure his episode gets amazing ratings!

Here’s how you can help:

-If you are in a Nielsen household, watch live on your television. This is how US television ratings are measured. If you’re not sure if you’re a Nielsen household, you’re not. But there are still ways to make your watching count towards ratings!

-Even if you are not in a Nielson household, still watch it live and then be sure to watch later on DVR too if possible!

-Record the episode on your DVR even if you do watch live. DVR viewings are counted into Nielsen numbers. Make sure to watch the recording as soon as possible, the earlier you watch the more it counts for the Live +7 and Live +3 Nielsen numbers. (even if you don’t pay attention to the episode, you can at least have it playing while you do other stuff!)

-If you can’t watch live at the time of the episode, use a livestream or download link so you can tweet along with others that are live watching!

-Also be sure to watch (or rewatch) the episode on the official CW Whose Line Is It Anyway site. Those viewings count towards ratings too. The episode is normally posted to the website at or shortly after midnight EST. (even if you don’t pay attention to the episode, you can at least have it playing while you do other stuff!)

-Another way to help is to boost the Nielsen twitter ratings. Tweet the episode using the #WLIIA hashtag. Per this article, Nielsen starts counting tweets for an episode 3 hours before airtime, and continues counting for 3 hours after the episode ends, so that gives you 7 hours to hop on twitter and give Misha your support by using the #WLIIA hashtag. In addition we found out that Nielsen continues counting views of tweets until 5AM EST the following morning, so if you’re awake all night, keep on retweeting those #WLIIA tweets!

-Only US based tweets count, BUT retweets hold the same weight as original tweets, so if you have international friends watching and tweeting with the #WLIIA hashtag retweet them so they’ll count too. If you are watching from outside of the US, use the hashtag so we can retweet you! Add OUSA to your tweets to make it even easier, that way your US friends will know just what to do!

-Another thing to keep in mind, per twitter analytics, tweets with more than two hashtags can be flagged as spam, so stick with just #WLIIA and #WhoseMishaIsItAnyway.

Misha always makes an effort to show how much he loves and supports his fans, so let’s make this the most watched episode of WLIIA ever and show just how much we love and support Misha!

Don’t forget to start tweeting as soon as you can starting at 5pm EST/4pmCST with the hashtag #WLIIA and then at 6pmEST/4pmCST we’ll make a concentrated effort to trend #WhoseMishaIsItAnyway.

Thanks as always for all that you guys do to support Misha!

Supernatural might be on hellatus, but on Monday June 16, Misha Collins will be appearing in Whose Line Is It Anyway, and we want to use this to show just how much support there is for the man behind our favourite angel! What does this mean, you ask?

Well, we’re planning a trending party, and we want to give you the chance to choose your preferred Misha-specific tag! During the show we will be tweeting the show tag #WLIIA, but we want to really push just how much we are watching for Misha. Over the last few days we have collected suggestions for the hashtag, and now it is time to vote! Voting is open from now until 8am GMT, Thursday 12 June. You can vote right here, right now.

So spread the word & get voting so we can make this a really successful trending time for Misha!

FYI IMPORTANT INFO!! There was an issue with the initial poll - THERE IS NOW A NEW VOTING SITE. Please vote here:

Calling SPN Family and MIsha Minions

iouthedoctor:

I’ve heard several clips recently of misha talking about how he’s not a good actor and he’s damaged and he’s not worthy and I started thinking maybe it’s time that we as a fandom, but more importantly as a family, step up and tell misha not just that he’s great but also WHY he’s great and WHY we love him so much.

So here’s my plan:

I’m going to DallasCon in September and saving up for a meet and greet. Wouldn’t it be amazing if I took every reason y’all love misha and wrote it down in a book or journal type thing to give him. Be honest, be goofy, both. It doesn’t matter. The goal is to remind him and potentially even explain to him why we love him because sometimes people have a hard time understanding that.

You can get your message to me via:

We got contacted about this project today, and it looks very, very cool, so we’re going ahead and reblogging to share!

Today it was announced that Misha will be returning for season 10!

We’re already congratulating him with a fundraiser for Random Acts.

But we want to thank TPTB at Supernatural too!

Our postcard and Ties for Castiel campaigns were so massive that even The Hollywood Reporter took notice.

Yet, the entire time we inundated the Supernatural offices with ties and postcards, TPTB remained kind and supportive. That deserves recognition, as well as the recognition they’re owed for bringing Misha back.

So, we’re sending a thank you card! Mailed to Jeremy Carver and Robert Singer, and made out to the producers, writers, cast, and crew of Supernatural.

And we want to give you a chance to sign it!

Because nobody wants to sign a card without knowing what it says, here’s the enclosed text:

To the producers, writers, cast, and crew of Supernatural.

The Castiel Fan Network and all of our friends want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for bringing Misha back, as a regular, for season 10 of Supernatural.

You’ve been so good to us, even as we covered your desks in postcards and blue ties, and that deserves thanks as well.

So thank you, for everything!

We look forward to watching Castiel in season 10, and are hoping we get to see him in even more episodes than season 9!

With gratitude,

The Castiel Fan Network, as well as everyone on the enclosed list

Along with the card, we plan to print out a list of every one of you who signs it as well, and send that too.

Signing is super easy!

All you have to do is send an email to cfnthankyouproject@gmail.com and in the email write your first name, and your tumblr URL and/or your twitter @

We’ll be collecting names until the night of the season finale on May 20th.

The following day, signatures will be printed out, and the card and signatures mailed off.

We hope you add your name to the card and show TPTB just how grateful you are that they’re bringing Cas back!

Thanks for all you do!

The Castiel Fan Network

on twitter @angelwarriorcas

We’ve got a page and a half of names so far, but we want sooo many more! Please send us your name, and reblog this post!

CLOSING TOMORROW NIGHT AFTER THE FINALE!

We have 350 names so far, our goal is 500. If we’re going to reach that goal we need you to join in, and we need you to reblog. This is the last organized opportunity before S10 to let TPTB know how important Cas is to you, and how much you hope to see even more of him in S10.

The writers are already back at work, starting to write S10. If you want to make your voice heard, now is the time.

Please, participate and share.
